Joey K
Joey K is a Kansas City entertainer hopelessly lost in the 1950’s influence of such singers as Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and the "Rat Pack", Chet Baker and Mel Torme. Having grown up in a family steeped in athletics, (his dad and uncle were Major League Baseball players), he himself had visions of baseball glory, being drafted by the St Louis Cardinals at the age of 17, and later a first round draft choice of the New York Yankees. While his sports career faded on the “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, Joey pursued his love of the stylings of the great singers of an earlier period. Joey was able to see the great Joe Williams on a number of occasions during his baseball days and gradually developed a singing style that blends many of the styles he has heard over the years from all those great singers. Recently, Joey joined some local musicians in the recording studio to cut a number of tunes closely associated with the early work of the Nat King Cole Trio. Joey can perform as a solo singer with backing tracks, add a percussionist, or he can appear with 3-4 piece band. Joey K performs around KC, Des
Moines and Lake of the Ozarks for events of all types. A complete promo pack is available on Joey K. Just fill out a "Request Form". "We Set Your Life To Music" |
