Joe Athon Group

Joe Athon is a special talent as a vocalist and instrumentalist. He's been performing professionally for over 15 years.  Joe began his musical training at a very young age.  His first formal training began at the age of 10 Years old when he began the Viola.  Joe soon switched to the saxophone and while still in high school had the opportunity to study jazz and improvisation with educators at the Eastman School of Music.  At the age of 16 Joe was selected to the Missouri All-State Jazz band.  

It was during these formative years that Joe discovered a natural affinity for using another instrument in jazz besides the saxophone...his voice.  Later, while attending college at Central Missouri State University,  Joe earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance with a Jazz/Commercial Music Emphasis, and completed course work towards graduate studies of a Masters Degree in Music History and Literature.  Joe Athon possesses an unusual insight as a singer.  He brings all of the technical skills he has developed in his formal instrumental training to bear as a singer.  

The result is a singer who is as equally comfortable crooning the swinging melodies of Frank Sinatra as he is the Soul of Wilson Pickett or the Rock and Roll of The Stones.

Joe operates various sized groups to fit the space and budget for corporate events.  He recommends either his 7-pc or 9-pc for wedding receptions.
